Nothing is more frustrating then being left behind at something that everyone else is so good at. Take for example Twitter, the fastest expanding social media in the online world. Sure, I'm not talking about you. There are so many people who talk about it, many have even created an account. But there's a big difference between saying you know Twitter and knowing it, precisely. Of course I'm not saying that's your case. There's also a huge difference between using Twitter for your personal connections and tweeting for business matters. Like yourself, I know all about that.

But let's just see, just in case we've missed some of the theory, what is that one thing that makes Twitter so influential? Is there anything in the advertising process, where Twitter does really help?

1.First of all, it gives more freedom to see. Read, write, express, connect. Unlike the other social media channels, Twitter doesn't condition the user's interactions to being friends or connections. You can follow whomever you wish, and read tweets even without being logged into your account. By following, the user chooses what posts are displayed on his/her profile page. Being able to see whatever, you can also spy away on your competition

2.If used right, can provide instant celebrity. Unlike offline means of advertising, people don't connect to Twitter to search for brands. Even a small business can make it big into this place: according to a in-house research published in 2012, 92% of the users choose to retweet interesting content published by others. Secondly, in their opinion, comes celebrity status and thirdly, the personal connection made with the ones following.

3. Can measure influence, as the number of followers equals the people subscribed to your notifications, watching your every move. Use applications such as Tweetdesk or Hotsuite to get complete results on just how much of an influence do you have on your followers.

So maybe all these arguments didn't convince you a bit. It may sound easier than it really is, that's true.

Did you think you are not in the right place or not addressing the right people on Twitter? Here are 3 advices to take into consideration, to get noticed:

1. Follow the lead

that means creating a community with members who you admire. Don't randomly follow anybody and everybody, but try to relate to the experts in your industry.

2. Research the small

and by small I mean local, reachable audiences who might buy from you.

3. Get busy

publish daily if not more often, to keep connected
