The better part of chaos

I've spent a day looking for the “so called” better ways of performing as an online marketer.

It all started out as a boring dive into a sea of endless search engine results. As the search got narrowed down to a few blogs and sites, I've found some interesting posts, motivational speeches, white-papers and slides. I've read most of them, avid for information, but found no secret disclosed. Only a few pertinent observations on good/bad customer service and behavior. Photos included.

Ended up searching again, listening to a few pod-casts and found myself looking through out the pages, reading nothing, really. Got annoyed by the multiple tweets, links and general information piling up on my screen. Is there no one making sense by providing short and accurate answers to specific problems, anymore?

Will rest my search for the day, as I found no relevant data responding to my question. Instead, with all the marketing and social media experts out there, I've encountered some funny and annoying facts. Thought you might like them. To avoid them in the future, I've put together a list of the most irritating ones. For your amusement only, there could be some in this site's posts, also:

Redundant, “know it all” marketing expressions:

-“In this rapidly evolving world”...can easily be switched for “ in this fast pacing environment”, or -“With the growing number of options”...

-“Don't know where to start from? It's quite easy”

-“Here are the fastest steps towards making your voice heard”

-“All you need to know is right here”

-“I can help you with that ( or, for that matter, with anything, really)”

Annoying attitudes, repeating subjects

You're swimming in a sea of easy options and still, something doesn't feel right. Could it be that the fast solutions you are offered come with no set of instructions? I felt like that, many online voices talked about building a social media community, writing exceptional posts and getting instant success. “That's how you do business online”, they say, forgetting to mention how exactly are you supposed to reach all those incredible goals. Tried searching for “build Facebook community”- the over 600 000 results tell me it's going to take a while.

Why follow somebody like that

The result is you'll get frustrated. Tired of searching and determined to stick to 2-3 marketing “experts”, at most. They may not be the ones providing the most interesting information, but they'll have to do. Follow them cause they're popular, write entertaining stories and include a wise quote at the beginning of every post.

It may suffice. Or you might feel the need to search for more. But stop, at the thought of going through it all again.

Don't give up

As it is destined to get better, in time. A little help from this blog : since I'm already doing the research, will post some of the good stuff I've stumbled upon, right here .

Here's what I've found in my last 2-3 days blog search. Depends on what you're after :

-Content writing : www.copybot , check out Demian's Farnworth's posts on what/how to write

-Every day life ideas : www.allyouneedisagoodidea.typepad.com – life experiences turned into blog posts

Have your say!

What are you currently reading online? Which blogs/sites are you taking as an every day dose?
