Challenging enough?
It's not enough to keep your viewers entertained anymore,as entertainment has come to be more and more present on the web today. Think about it this way : how much time would you spend on an online application? If it's good, maybe half an hour, depending on the complexity. Would that single application encourage you to like/share the site or the company presenting it? Maybe so. But would you buy a product from them in the following hours? Not likely.
Why would you chat?
One thing the internet might be missing, at some point, is live interaction. That's why live chats were invented. Not in the last 5 minutes, that's for sure, as these forms of communicating have been around for a while now. For a site in need for customer feedback, the most effective idea is definitely a live-chat.
