For there are many more things to find out about social media.
Not about realizing its importance, paying someone to post on your behalf or investing thousands in online advertising. But about really using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the other social channels, exploring every opportunity that the networks can offer and actually getting a better representation for your business.
Is your quest for traffic worth the effort?
Met an old colleague the other day. Nothing too interesting, just an afternoon talk about work, holiday plans and weather. One thing led to another and, just when the conversation got a bit boring ( I'm mean and easily bored, of course), she told me she had given up maintaining her online traffic. Not really given up for good, just for a while, 2 months tops. “Just to see what happens”, Laura said, while stirring the green straw in her obviously non-alcoholic drink.
I shrugged, still not fully interested, but asked : “Why would you want to do that?”. “It's just not worth the effort” she replied.
How do you decide which Social Media to use?
A simple question with no simple answer to it. That is why it keeps so many people from connecting with a specific audience, preventing some from selling, others from buying. It's not clear, you see, even though some may say otherwise, which is the profile user for each social network. “For all its potential, social profiling scares me”, says digital strategist Jason Oates and he is mostly right. Social Media scares me too, for all the incredible amount of personal information it can share. And for the little relevance this information may have.
