Parameters count
With all the different options provided by Jentla's Advanced Content Administration menu, you can feel a little overwhelmed at times and choose to stick to completing the mandatory fields. Which is a smart option for beginner users. As you start to use the article's editor more often, you can explore the rest of the sections, one of the most important ones being the Parameters menu.
This part of Content Admin offers the opportunity to set, hide and show article data. It is a complete set of options that define your post's appearance on site. For those who didn't have the opportunity (or the patience) to explore Parameters, here are the most important information they've lost:
1. The chance to show the article's author.
Of course it's better to sign your articles, especially if we are talking about blogs. To do so, choose your user's name wisely (write down a pen name or your entire name), as this is the name that will be showed on site as your. Then go to Parameters, and set the Author Name option as <<Show>>.
2. Personalize the read more button
Readers don't usually have the patience to go through an entire article at once. That's why it is advisable to user a <<read more>> button to connect your text's summary and body. From the Parameters section you can change the value of this button, by introducing text in the << read more text>> field. Also from this menu, you can set the option to view the article's intro text ( set as default) or entire text, by switching between the options in the <<For each feed item show>> drop-down.
3. Show article activity
Which translates into showing the number of hits each article has received ( number of times it has been accessed by a reader). This data is important for you – lets you know which subjects are more interesting than others and for you readers – building up site reputation ( assuming that your articles are read). Set the Hits drop-down as Show.
4. Add a little
The Additional Parameters sub-section is responsible for the showing of the comment module on article page, for restricting the article's permissions and showing the breadcrumbs that lead to the specific page. You can choose to give access to the article to only a certain group of users, as well as you can show the readers how to get back to the previous pages by setting the <<Display Article Breadcrumbs>> as Show.
5. Ease distribution
Yes, online articles are meant to be read and shared, that is how you create your own community of readers. While in the Parameters section, set your Icons drop-downs as Show, to be able to show, print, edit, email and change your article's extension to pdf.
And these are only a few of the many options Parameters section can change for you. Other important aspects: article ordering within a category, pagination, category or multi column ordering.
