Emailing, at its finest
A legit question is not always followed by a simple answer. It shouldn't be that hard, really. How do you get more subscriptions via email? Well, nobody knows the secret recipe. There are ways - tried by some, experiences that worked or failed for others. Some good ideas always exist and this is a short overview of what could be done. Browse through the hints below and choose the ones that sound good to you:
When signing up
You website is the place where prospects make important decisions, as you engage with them. Keep a balance between being too assertive or plain absent and try to search for ways to be useful, in the right place, at the right time. Give them a good reason to sign-up:
1. Tell them why
No real prospect will sign-up to your newsletter unless knowing why : what to expect from your company and which are the advantages from subscribing. State sincerely why site visitors should listen to you.
2. Make it easy
Position your sign-up button in an accessible place. Make sure that it doesn't cover important parts of content.
3. Ask at the right time
There are definitely pages that prospects would rather read without being bothered. Be patient and ask them to sign up on certain parts of your website ( About us, Contact pages are sometimes best).
4. The right amount of info
Request just enough info from your subscribers, so you won't annoy them with too many fields to complete.
+ Give value for free!
It is a common practice to attract subscribers. Many sites give away free books, online trainings, screen savers in exchange for the users' email addresses. The downside of this routine is that you may form a freebie community with little to no interest in what you have to sell.
When writing content
There are many ways in which you can give value to your email content, but these two steps below are the start-up:
1. Think Brand Butler
Means talking more about your customers' needs and interests and less about yours. Fill your newsletters with information relevant to them, most of all (the score should be at least 3 to 1).
2. Use segmentation
It's the best way to attract customer attention on certain aspects of your newsletter. Only a few readers have the patience to go through plain blocks of content without focusing on certain highlighted features.
+ Many online marketing experts recommend to periodically clean up your email lists, deleting all inactive users.
